From what colour to paint the walls to the overall aesthetic of a room, we all want to put our own stamp on our living space.
In need of some inspiration? To guide our decorating choices (and just for a bit of fun), the experts at PhysicWorld.com surveyed 3,634 people, looking specifically at their favourite decorating styles which were then categorised by each zodiac sign.
‘Spending a significant amount of time at home has inspired most of us to make a change. But with so many interior trends and inspiration online, it’s almost impossible to decide what change is needed,’ they explain.
Take a look at the star signs below for inspiration. Do the predictions ring true for you?
1. Aries: Contemporary
Is your star sign an Aries? If so, your interior style is likely to be contemporary. Think hues of beige, white and black, combined with various modern textures.
‘Fiery Aries tend to be impulsive, so they might change things around their house often,’ says PsychicWorld. ‘The fluidity of this style allows them to combine modern items with other trends, making it their perfect environment.’
2. Taurus: Rustic
Taurus’ love to be surrounded be nature, so, unsurprisingly, this is often translated through interior schemes too.
3. Gemini: French Country
French Country is the preferred interior style of Geminis, thanks to their love of all things romantic. From soft patterns to round furniture, they take delight in balancing beauty with comfort.
4. Cancer: Traditional
If your star sign is Cancer, you’re likely to be drawn to traditional styles that feel cosy and lived-in.
PsychicWorld comments: ‘You might need an extra storage room for all the family memories though! Inspired by the 18th and 19th centuries, the colour palette is defined by dark warm tones. The furniture style is quite royal, typically using heavy materials.’
5. Leo: Mid-Century Modern
While many Leos are drawn to opulence, they also love fuss-free home environments and enjoy combining traditional furnishings with more modern materials.
6. Virgo: Modern
Virgos love to be organised and prefer modern streamlined styles when it comes to the homes. Is this you?
‘The roots of this style can be found in German and Scandinavian designs, which represent an easy, fuss-free environment,’ add PsychicWorld.
7. Libra: Minimalist
Libras prefer to stay away from flamboyant style, opting for minimalistic interiors instead.
PsychicWorld explain: ‘This theme is described best by a monochromatic palette, clean lines and simplicity. You can use colours as accents, but it would never dominate the room.’
8. Scorpio: Industrial
‘Scorpios love to stand out and make a statement. They are passionate, seductive, and not afraid to speak their mind,’ say PsychicWorld. ‘Most of the respondents under this sign have chosen the Industrial style as their favourite. If you want to achieve this style you will need to invest in metal elements and furniture, be bold with black, and if you can, add elements of exposed brickwork into your home.’
9. Sagittarius: Coastal
Sagittarius’ love to travel, so it’s unsurprising that their go-to interior style is coastal themed. Whether you live close to the sea or not, simply tap into hues of soft blue, grey and/or green, and white, a colour combination which is never far from a beach scene.
10. Capricorn: Scandi-style
Scandinavian style is a Capricorn’s favourite, mainly because it helps them to feel relaxed after a busy day.
PsychicWorld explain: ‘The workaholics of all signs, they value order but also comfort. The Scandinavian style offers them a clean aesthetic, with enough light to help them work harder and better. Similar to the Minimalist style it’s characterised by simplicity and functionality.’
11. Aquarius: Bohemian
If your star sign is Aquarius then you’re known for being quirky, both in your life and at home. You love Bohemian style, whether this is in the form of furniture or accessories. It’s all about getting arty and embracing bold colours, patterns and wall art. Plants are also a staple in creating a Bohemian style.
12. Pisces: Transitional
Pisces love transitional styles, swaying between traditional and modern. Some go-to materials include glass, metal and wood. You’ll also love to spruce up your walls with vibrant art — possibly even an Insta-worthy gallery wall, too.
